I designed album covers for two dynamic artists from the Bronx: MIZZIE FROM THE X and SCOTTPHOX. Both designs encapsulate the essence of each artist’s unique sound and narrative.
Mizzie, an independent rapper, singer, and songwriter, released her single "IVY" this past November. In this bold track with an aggressive edge, she lyrically defends herself against outside influences, likening them to poison ivy. My design aims to reflect this intensity and urban grit, combining vivid hand-drawn elements with a lush green backdrop, symbolizing resilience and her message's raw, unyielding nature.
ScottPhox, a DJ specializing in bass-heavy genres like riddim, tearout dubstep, and techno, unveiled his track "MIMIC" this past October — a dark, chaotic production with eerie, uncanny valley-inspired soundscapes.
The track’s unsettling energy is mirrored in the distorted visuals of the album cover, which features chaotic scribbles and haunting textures, evoking the sense of something imitating human expression but with an eerie, distorted twist. The result is an atmosphere of hypnotic unease, much like the track itself, which immerses listeners in a disjointed, fractured world of bass-heavy drops and glitchy rhythms.
